One of the library’s most beloved yearly events: Gingerbread House decorating!

For almost twenty years, early December at the Topsfield Town Library has meant one big thing: our yearly Gingerbread House Decorating event hosted by the incomparable Friends of the Topsfield Town Library! Hosted around Topsfield’s Holiday on the Green event, Gingerbread House decorating at the library has become a Topsfield tradition of its own.

Did you know: In the weeks before the event, adult and teen volunteers make massive amounts of royal icing and carefully cut graham cracker walls and roofs, which they then use to build approximately 200 houses!

This year, there are four different in-person sessions: Friday, December 1 at 6pm, and Saturday, December 2 at 10am, 11:30am, and 1pm. There is also a take-home option started during the pandemic. To sign up, visit the library’s Children’s Room. The price is $15/child for Friends of the Topsfield Town Library members; it is $25/child for non-Friends. Payment can be made by cash or check!

We urge you to hurry, though! They WILL fill up soon. Come join us in one of Topsfield’s best traditions!
