This device covers overall contaminant levels not only related to inorganic matters (TDS), but more importantly related to organic matters (microbiology, volatile organic compounds and pesticides). TOC (Total Organic Carbon) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) reflect the pollution of organic matter in drinking water, including natural organic like algae, bacteria, virus, or other microbiological contaminants, as well as synthetic or volatile organic (SOC / VOC) like pesticides, herbicides or THMS.
