Residents of Topsfield can apply for a library card at the Topsfield Town Library in-person or using our online library card application! View our Welcome to the Library brochure here.
Your library card is good at the 36 member libraries of the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium. You can order items from any library in the consortium, for pickup right here in Topsfield! Simply search our catalog to begin! Our MVLC Mobile app allows you to check your account, place holds, access your library card, and more!
We are more than just books! The Topsfield Town Library has a wide selection of DVDs, audiobooks, and Playaways. Access e-books, e-audiobooks, and streaming movies using online library services like OverDrive (via the Libby app), and Kanopy.
Our Library of Things collection allows patrons to borrow items like puzzles, board games, lawn games, instruments, a metal detector, mobile hotspots, and much more!
The library has online and physical subscriptions to many newspapers and periodicals. Topsfield Library card holders have online access to the New York Times and Wall Street Journal!

In a hurry? Consider using the library’s Rapid Pickup service. Simply call ahead, and your requests will be waiting for you at the front of the library. No fuss, just grab and go! The Topsfield Town Library and the Topsfield Council on Aging work together to offer free home delivery for those in need.

Sign up for Author Alerts to be notified by text or email when a new book by your favorite author is added to our catalog. You can then be placed on the waiting list and be one of the first to get it when the book is released!

Commonwealth Catalog
Use the Commonwealth Catalog to extend your search statewide. Make a request and your item will be delivered to Topsfield for pickup. You will be notified via email when your item is ready.

Lucky Day Titles
Have you checked out our Lucky Day titles? Located by the Circulation Desk, these copies are first-come, first-served, checked out for two weeks at a time, and are not renewable.
LGBTQ+ Search Filter
When visiting our catalog, look for the drop down menu on the left side (it defaults as “Everything”) and find “LGBTQ+.” Your search will only search for items with LGBTQ+ subject headings as an included subject at our library.
Literature Research Center
The Literature Research Center offers biographical information, literary criticism, reviews, and more on more than 130,000 writers in all disciplines. If you’re doing research on an author or book, check it out!
Novelist Plus
NoveList Plus lets you browse by style, mood, genre, and more. Find “read-a-likes,” or books similar to ones you already enjoy. You can also pick a genre and find the latest releases or classics you have yet to read.

Personalized Recommendations & Bundles
Need help finding your next great read? We have several different ways to help! Try the Topsfield Town Library’s Personalized Recommendations form! A librarian will find 3-5 perfect titles for you and place them on reserve for you; you will receive a notification when the titles are ready for pickup in the library! Of course, you can always come in to the library and chat with staff, reach out to us via phone or email for recommendations, or visit our Readers’ Advisory blog updates.

For adult Book Bundles, send an email to Sean at ssmith@topsfieldlibrary.org with your name, what you like to read (genres, authors, topics, etc.), and whether you want a special format, such as large print, audio CD, or Playaway.
For children’s or teen Book Bundles, send an email to Lindsey at lrecka@topsfieldlibrary.org with your child’s age, any interests they have, and any notes or comments (Do they like graphic novels? Are you looking for things to read together? Let us know anything you think we should know!)
