The potential of suspension of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits due to the ongoing Federal Government shutdown has helped shine a spotlight on food insecurity across the country and at home. As noted on our Seed Library page, nearly 13% of US households suffer from food insecurity.
The Topsfield Town Library wishes to make our patrons and fellow community members aware of resources, especially if you are in need during this time.

Produce for the Pantry & Share for a Share
The Produce for the Pantry/Share for a Share program (launched by the Topsfield Agricultural Commission and partnering with Topsfield Community Partnership) encourages local gardeners to contribute their excess produce; all of the donated produce is taken to Haven from Hunger for their food pantry and communal meals program.
Share for a Share is Topsfield’s way of contributing to sustainable agriculture and food security. Donations to the Topsfield Community Partnership will be used to purchase shares from local farms. Donations of any size are welcome and will be consolidated for the price of a share. The resulting produce from these owned shares will be donated to Tri-Town food pantries and Haven from Hunger in Peabody. Typically a share costs $700 and provides around 20 weeks of vegetables for a family.
First Church Boxford Food Pantry
