Calling all news fans and history buffs! Now announcing TWO new and updated databases!

Starting this August, the Topsfield Town Library is thrilled to announce that we are now subscribed to Heritage Hub! Heritage Hub is a HUGE collection of obituaries and death notices from across the country, dating back to the 1700s. This database pulls information from newspapers, public notices, and funeral homes, since many people don’t post obituaries in newspapers anymore. You can search by name, year of death, and/or keyword.  This database can be accessed from anywhere, as long as you have your Topsfield library card.

In other news, we are excited to announce that we’ve updated our America’s News (Newsbank) collection to include over 390 NEW sources and 140 NEW Image Edition Newspapers! And don’t worry, we still have access to local news sources. If you’re not already familiar with America’s News, this database grants you access to thousands of news articles from across the country. Many are image edition newspapers, which look like you’re reading the actual newspaper. You can search by keyword or by topic! Whether you’re interested in exploring a new subject, are interested to see how other parts of the country report on current events, or have a nose for the news, America’s News is a great place to start!
